Daegu’s old-city area is reborn into art creation space, known as Daegu art factory. This venue serves as a studio for artists to conduct experimental works, and the audience embrace this place as a venue to experience various arts. A large gallery and auditorium are available, along with an arts information center where you can easily check art information and archives. Daegu art factory operates a residency program to provide a venue for new artists to create their arts. ‘Cafe project Mangwondang’ is a unique library very different from other libraries, easily accessible for visitors.

Its purpose was to educate the sons of Korea's ruling class on Confucian virtues and the role that they had on Korean society and politics. The historical academy was burned during wars that plagued the region during the 16th century, and was rebuilt in 1598 at its current location, south of downtown Daegu. Recently renovated further in 1973, Daegu Hyanggyo is still in use today for tourists, but can frequently be seen as a beautiful wedding backdrop for marriage ceremonies.
